David King

December 3, 1925 — January 5, 2011

Mr. David King, 85, of Mt. Airy , MD. , died on January 5, 2010 at his home. He was the husband of Bebe B. King.

Born on December 3, 1925 in Capitol Heights , MD. , he was the son of the late Joseph P. and Jennie King.

He served in the U. S. Navy on the USS Newman during WWII. After serving in the Navy, he went on to work for the Naval Research Lab, Washington D.C. until his retirement in December of 1980. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 191, Mt. Airy and an Honorary member of the Ritchie Volunteer Fire Co., Ritchie , MD. He had a love for old cars and most of all a love for his family.

Surviving in addition to his wife are five children; Donna Darr and husband David of Harwood, MD., Frank Davis and wife Bonnie of Mechanicsville, MD., James King and wife Vicki of Woodbine, MD., Susan King and husband Regis Canny of Gaithersburg, MD., and Mary Ann Townson and husband Allen of Mobile, AL. Grandchildren; Frank Davis Jr., Joseph King, Scott Davis, Lisa Marie Russell, Michelle Lynn Cohen, Michael Alexander Davis, Christina Diane King, Stephanie Jean King, Daniel Glen King and Chase Ashton Townson. Eight great grandchildren. One brother Herbert King of Adelphi , MD.

Friends may call from 3-5 & 7-9pm on Sunday January 9, 2011, at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 East Ridgeville Blvd, Mt. Airy, MD., where funeral services will be held at 11:00am in the funeral home on Monday January 10, 2011. Reverend J. W. Parks will officiate.

Interment will follow in Poplar Springs Cemetery , Poplar Springs.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Lee Davis and Lennie King, and by a grandson David Allan Childress.
