David Paul Herring, 71, of Edgewood, MD died Sunday, July 1, 2012 at his home.
Born December 1, 1940 in Gettysburg, PA he was the son of the late Brooke and Coenia Herring of Emmitsburg, MD.
David served four years in the Navy, touring in the Mediterranean. He was employed a short time at St. Joseph's Provincial House in Emmitsburg. As an accountant he worked for Bethlehem Steel at Sparrows Point Shipyard for 33 years. He was a member of the Proctor Kildow American Legion Post #71. Most recently he was the President of the Edgewood Condo Association. He enjoyed music, movies, fine restaurants and keeping in touch with the family.
He is survived by his loving sister Jean Marie Hoffman of Thurmont, MD and life long friend Ronald L. Simpsotn of Edgewood, MD. He will be greatly missed by his nephew Michael L. Hoffman and wife Christie and son Joshua, of Emmitsburg, MD; niece Nicole R. Kilgore and husband Donald and daughters Jessica and Mackenzie of Frederick, MD.
David has always been the center of his family and will be remembered significantly as always bringing the family together with his humor, wisdom and understanding.
The family will receive friends at Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main St., Thurmont on Friday, July 6, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM where a funeral service will be held Saturday, July 7 at 11 AM.
Interment will be private.
