David Douglas

Mr. David Edward Douglas, 71, of Thurmont died Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at University of Maryland Medical Center. He was the husband of the late Colleen Douglas, who died August 9, 2007. They were married 39 years at the time of her death.

Born July 4, 1946 in  Clarksburg, WV, he was the son of the late Glenn Lester and Mariellen (Greynolds) Douglas.

David worked as a technician with AT & T for many years. Following his retirement, he worked in private construction. David was a longtime member of Brook Hill United Methodist Church and was active with the Outreach Committee, participating with mission trips and Habitat for Humanity. Additionally, he was a longtime member of the Yellow Springs Lions Club and Cresap Rifle Club. He was a veteran of the National Guard.

David is survived by his daughter, Beth White and husband, Brian, of Frederick; his son, Craig Alan Douglas of Frederick; granddaughters, Emily and Sarah; and siblings, Albert Douglas of Ellijay, GA; Dick Douglas and wife, Judy, of Bridgeport, WV; and Pat Broccard and husband, Gene, of Spring, Texas.

He also will be remembered by his companion, Nancy Mullins.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, November 20, 2017 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick. Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m.on Tuesday, November 21 from Brook Hill United Methodist Church, 8946 Indian Springs Road, Frederick, MD 21702. Officiating will be Pastor Dana Werts.

Interment will follow in Brook Hill Cemetery.
