Mr. David Ellis Day, 72, of Mount Airy, passed away on Friday, August 7, 2015, at the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore. He was the husband of Lisa Ann Gall Day, his wife of 31 years.
Born on January 4, 1943, in Mt. Airy, he was the son of the late Jesse Downey and Laura Ann Day. David worked as a teacher for Carroll County Public Schools, teaching in Mt. Airy and was a member of Retired Teachers Association.
David loved working in his yard and was an excellent landscaper. An avid sports fan, he enjoyed watching all sports especially following the Baltimore Orioles and Ravens.
Surviving in addition to his wife Lisa are a daughter, Ashley Ann Day of Mt. Airy and a son, Jesse Edwin Day of Canton; a sister-in-law, Mary Lou Day, brother and sister-in-laws Edward and Laura Puls all of Mt. Airy; one niece, Laurie Day VanBibber and three nephews: Dana Day, Downey Day and EJ Puls.
Mr. Day was preceded in death by a brother, Douglas Edsel "Doug" Day, who passed away last month.
Private funeral services and inurnment will take place in Pine Grove Cemetery at a later date with Rev. Phil Ayers officiating.
