David Richard Auble of Frederick, MD passed away at home, surrounded by family on December 10, 2023 at age 76. David was born to Damon and Lucille Auble in Indianapolis and attended Broad Ripple High School and Ball State University.
David met Peggy Kniptash Auble, his lifelong partner and wife, of 56 years, at a church youth group before marrying on June 10, 1967 at Northminster Presbyterian Church. He was a loving and beloved father and devoted spouse. In addition to Indianapolis, they lived in Bay Village, OH, Mishawaka, IN, and Shillington, PA before settling in Frederick over 20 years ago.
David was an avid cyclist, voracious reader, music lover and curious about everything. His strength, generosity and concern for others were extraordinary. He served his community as, among other positions, a church Elder, a board member of the local United Way, and as part of the Frederick City Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee.
David led a successful 35 year career as a business manager. He was an acknowledged expert at trucking logistics, teaching on the topic at Penn State business school and serving as a senior executive for over a decade at one of the nation’s largest transportation and logistics companies. He was unafraid to tackle new topics - managing the affairs of companies involved in health care and physics in his latter career before retiring in 2015.
In addition to his wife, Peggy Auble of Frederick, MD, he is survived by his children, Jacqueline Auble Hulslander and husband, David Hulslander, of Boulder, CO and Daniel Auble and wife, Jennifer Marzouk Auble, of Springfield, VA; grandchildren, Kailtyn Auble, Brayden Auble, and Theodore Hulslander; brothers, Paul Auble and wife, Jennie Dyer Auble, of Noblesville, IN and Mark Auble and wife, Karen Cettel Auble, of Charlevoix, MI; mother-in-law, Betty Kniptash; brother-in-law, Doug Kniptash and wife, Judy Allen Kniptash; aunt, Roberta Auble; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, December 17th, 2023 at Stauffer Funeral Homes, 1621 Opossumtown Pike in Frederick, MD.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in David’s memory.
