Mr. Dannie Gene Stansbury, 82, passed away at home surrounded by his family. He was born May 26, 1931 in Mt. Airy, MD to the late Charles Stansbury and Arizona Prichard. He was the loving husband of Lillie Peomroy Stansbury for 62 years.
In addition to his wife he is survived by four children; Dannie T. Stansbury and wife Bobbie Jo of Frederick; David N. Stansbury, Frederick, MD; Dianna S. Weikel and husband Dennis, Timonium, MD and Darrell W. Stansbury and wife Joan of Chambersburg, PA; three grandchildren; Dana Weikel, Zachary Stansbury, Katherine (Katie) Stansbury and a great granddaughter, Xyla Stansbury.
He is also survived by two sisters; Alice Smith, West Virginia and Linda Jarvis and husband Lee of Monrovia, MD; one sister-in-law, Edna Stitely, Frederick, MD and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Ray Stansbury.
Following graduation from high school, Dannie served 10 years in the National Guard 11Sth Infantry Medical Company. He retired in 1998 from Essroc, Buckeystown, MD where he was employed as an electrician. In his free time, Dannie enjoyed country and bluegrass music, hunting with his buddies and family outings. He was involved in scouting in Frederick County for more than forty years serving as Cubmaster Pack 271, Yellow Springs, MD for 35 years and as Unit Commisioner, Francis Scott Key District. In 1974 he was honored with the Silver Beaver Award, Scouting's highest leadership honor. He was a life-long member of Bethel Lutheran Church where he served the church in multiple capacities over
the years.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, Monday, March 31, from 3-5 and 7-9:00 pm.
A Memorial Service will be held at Bethel Lutheran Church, 9664 Opossumtown Pike, on Saturday, April 5, at 11:00 am.
