Daniel "Dick" H. Beachley, 81, of Boonsboro, Maryland, passed peacefully from this life on Sunday, January 15, 2012, surrounded by his loving family at his home.
Born on June 15, 1930, in Middletown, Maryland, he was the son of the late George D. and Zillah E. (Markoe) Beachley.
Dick was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served as a tank commander where he was stationed in Germany and Holland during the Korean War.
In his early working career, Dick was employed by the Pangborn Corporation in Hagerstown, Maryland as a security guard for ninteen years, retiring in 1985. After his first retirement, Dick went back to work in 1987 for the Washington County Board of Education as a custodian. He worked at Fountain Rock Elementary School until his second retirement in 1994.
Dick was known for his love of all things Harley Davidson. He took great pride in his Harley Motorcycle and memorabilia. He also liked to watch NASCAR.
He was a member of the Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church in Boonsboro, Clopper-Michael American Legion Post 10 in Boonsboro, the National Rifle Association, and AARP.
He is survived by his loving wife, Frances L. Beachley, his four daughters, Ronda and her husband, Jeffrey Patterson of Warrenton, Virginia, Tanja and Richard Fulks of Boonsboro, Kathy and Philip Feeser of Hagerstown, and Debra Beachley and Darren of Dargan, Maryland; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; four sisters, Candice, Mary Lee, Beverly, and Judy all of Frederick County, Maryland and one brother, Carl Beachley, also of Frederick County, Maryland. He is also survived many many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Wanda Biser, two sisters, Mary Lou and Sharon; and three brothers, George D., Bill, and Markoe.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro, Maryland. Rev. John W. Schildt will officiate. Military Honors will be rendered by the Clopper-Michael American Legion Post 10 of Boonsboro.
Interment will be held privately and at the convenience of the family.
