Mr. Daniel Allen Schumaker, Sr., 54, of Mt. Airy, passed away unexpectedly at his residence on Wednesday, August 27, 2014. He was the beloved husband of Annette Belton Schumaker, for 28 wonderful years.
Born on November 19, 1959, in Baltimore, he was the son of Virginia Schumaker of Port Charlotte, FL and the late Frank Schumaker, Sr. Dan was a 1978 graduate of Andover High School and worked as a diesel mechanic for Penske Leasing for nearly 30 years. He moved his family to Mt. Airy in 1994. "Big Dan" was the ultimate host and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Surviving in addition to his wife and mother are sons: Daniel A. and Matthew R. Schumaker of Mt. Airy; his brother Michael Schumaker, sisters: Connie Green and husband Daryl and Vicky McShane and husband Kevin; mother-in-law Jeanette Robinson, and sister-in-laws: Karon Belton, Marianne Short and Denise Duafala. Dan was a special uncle to his nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Ashley Marie Schumaker and a brother Frank Schumaker, Jr.
The family will receive friends from 1-3 PM on Saturday, August 30, Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 E. Ridgeville Blvd., Mt. Airy where a service will begin at 3:00 pm. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Airy Vol. Fire Co. 702 N. Main St. Mt. Airy, MD 21771. Arrangements are by Stauffer Funeral Home, Mt. Airy and Stauffer Crematory, Frederick. Online condolences may be expressed at staufferfuneralhome.com.
