Mr. Daniel G. McDonald, III, 56, of Brunswick, MD passed away Wednesday, February 5, 2014.
He was born on June 25, 1957 in Vallejo, CA and was the son of Daniel G., Jr. and Phyllis A. McDonald of Littlestown, PA.
Dan worked at EMR in Baltimore for the past 22 years. He enjoyed his work and those he worked with. Everyone at EMR was like a second family to Dan to whom we will forever be grateful for.
Dan was a proud father who devoted his life to raising his two beautiful daughters. He was always there for them as well as anyone in need of a helping hand, moral support, or a shoulder to lean on. In addition, for years Dan unselfishly provided care and companionship to both his Mother and Father.
Dan loved anything on two wheels. He was an avid motorcycle rider who loved discovering and sharing all the back roads of Maryland and Pennsylvania. He was an active member of the Honda Club of the Dutrow’s Honda Dealership, who also sponsored blood drives in support of Dan. He loved to ride and race off-road motorcycles. Dan rarely missed a Sunday to ride his dirt bike regardless of the temperature or weather. The camaraderie and friendships Dan had and shared riding motorcycles will be truly missed by all he touched; to include those in his most recent passion for snowmobiling.
Dan loved to spend time with all of his 17 nieces and nephews sharing and teaching them to ride motorcycles, snow ski, water ski, or spend the day fishing. His love for family, friends, and life will truly be missed by all. With his passing all of our worlds sadly feel the hardships that come from the loss of a Great man, for which our hearts ache with an immense void. Dan will be missed every day and we will cherish our time with him forever.
In addition to his parents he is survived by his two daughters Katelyn McDonald of Brunswick, MD and Shannon Hopkins of Tampa FL. His six brothers and sisters, Kim Murray of Knoxville, MD, John McDonald of Virginia Beach, VA, Melanie Cann of Gettysburg, PA, Melinda Andrews of Littlestown, PA, Samantha Payne of Littlestown, PA, and Jerry McDonald of Frederick, MD.
Dan was preceded by both his maternal and paternal Grand Parents and other loved ones.
A Memorial service will be held at Stauffer Funeral Home,
1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick MD on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at 10AM Rev. Tim May will officiate.
Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens
