Daniel Alfred Hayes, 84, passed away from this earth into the arms of our loving Lord on Wednesday, April 17, 2024. Born and raised in Mahanoy City, PA, son of the late Alfred E. Hayes and Mary (nee Zavitsky).

Dan graduated from the University of Maryland with a Bachelor of Art Degree in Criminal Justice, followed by service in the United States Army. He was a retired Montgomery County Police Officer giving over 25 years of dedicated service. Dan enjoyed being a member of the Elks Lodge Post 684, American Legion Post 11 and Amvets Post 9. He was also an avid saltwater fisherman who always wanted to snatch the next big fish! We will greatly miss his cheesecakes and other culinary delights.

Dan is survived by his loving wife Nancy, his son Mark Hayes and his wife Valerie, daughter Angela Wilson and her husband Daniel, stepdaughters Michelle Waite and her husband Dale, Bridget Thomas and her husband Leighton, stepsons Jason Burdette and Donovan Burdette. Dan will be sadly missed by his grandchildren, step-grandchildren, and great-granddaughter, Kaitlyn, Kimberly, Danielle, Daniel, Ashley, Michael, Connor, Christopher, and Olivia. He was the brother of the late Gregory Hayes and his wife Roseann, Francis Hayes and his wife Linda, Thomas Hayes and his wife Eleanor, and his sister, Margaret Orwigsburg.

The family will receive relatives and friends, on Friday, April 26 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm with funeral services to follow at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD.
