Daniel Gerald Ellis, 61, of Keedysville, Maryland, died suddenly on Wednesday, November 24, 2010.
Born on March 8, 1949, in Martinsburg, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Fred Gerald and Edith Louise (Whittington) Ellis.
Daniel was a 1967 graduate of Boonsboro High School. He earned his Bachelor of Science Degree from Shepherd College in 1971 with a major in Business Administration and with a minor in Computer Science. Daniel additional earned his Master's Degree in Information Systems from the the University of Maryland in 2000.
Daniel was currently employed as a System Administrator with CSSS.NET in Falling Waters, West Virginia. He had previously worked with Solarex in Frederick, Maryland and SFA, Inc. in Frederick and Easton, Maryland.
Daniel was a member of the Delta Sigma Pi, EK Chapter. He also volunteered as a coach with BAAA (Boonsboro Youth Football) Program. Daniel was a past member of the Antietam Jaycees, the Boonsboro Park Board and the Keedysville Ruritan Club.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Frances (Ruffner) Ellis; his daughter, Gretchen Marie and her husband Andreas A. Laporta of Charlotte, North Carolina; his son, Jason Daniel Ellis and his wife Vicki E. (Mellott) of Mercersburg, Pennsylvania; his three sisters, Lori Lynn and her husband Ernest Uzicanin of Hagerstown, Maryland, Patricia Mae and her husband Kenneth Crutchfield also of Hagerstown, and Ann Elizabeth and her husband Nelson Kline of Williamsport, Maryland; his brother Ronald Wayne Ellis and his wife Debra also of Williamsport; and his four grandchildren, Jackson Daniel Ellis, Grant Kincaid Ellis, Edith Gray Ellis and Sophia Francesca Laporta. He is also survived by four nieces and eight nephews. He will also be remembered by Alnudena Delgado-Sanchez of Madrid, Spain.
Daniel was preceded in death by one nephew.
A celebration of life memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, November, 29, 2010 at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. Rev. Darrell L. Layman will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, November 28, 2010 at the funeral home.
