Daniel Butts

Daniel Paul Butts, 57, of Dickerson, Maryland, passed away on June 28, 2018 at his home. He is survived by his companion of 12 years, Catherine “Cathy” Lyn Echternach.

Born on February 1, 1961, in Charlestown, WV, he was the son of the late Robert Earl and Edna Anna (Frye) Butts Sr. Daniel worked for many years as a heavy equipment operator for more than 30 years. Daniel loved spending time outdoors and enjoying rides on his motorcycle.

In addition to Cathy, he is survived by his sister, Barbara S. Martz and husband Gerald of Boonsboro, MD; his children, Heather Butts of WA and Josh Butts of WV; and grandson Hayden Butts. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Waymeth, Ronnie, Earl, Bobby, Gary and Charles Butts, and Shirley Racey.

The family will receive friends from 12-2pm on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro, MD 21713. A celebration of his life’s journey will begin at 2pm at the funeral home. Pastor Earl R. Strine will officiate. Inurnment will be private at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to assist the family and support many of the various charities Daniel supported. Contributions may be made in C/O Cathy Echternach, 6705 Dickerson Road, Dickerson, MD 20842. The family will be making those contributions to St. Jude's Childrens Hospital and the Shriners Childrens Hospital.
