Dana Warfield

Mr. Dana Rudelle (Rudy) Warfield passed away peacefully at Tranquility at Fredericktowne on Monday, July 21, 2014.

Rudy was born on December 28, 1924, in Mt. Airy, Maryland, and was the third of six children of Raymond C. and Annie M. Warfield.  He was the beloved husband of Patricia Dant Warfield who passed away on July 5, 2000.

Rudy was Valedictorian of the Frederick High School graduating class of 1941.  He served in the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1946.  As Yeoman 1st Class, he was based in Hawaii on the aircraft carrier Bon Homme Richard during World War II.  Most of Rudy’s working career was in sales.  Prior to becoming a real estate broker and establishing his own agency, Warfield Realty in Middletown, Maryland, he sold automobiles for Key Chevrolet in the 1950’s followed by several years of selling furniture and appliances for various companies in Frederick.  His career in real estate until his retirement in 1994 was devoted to sales of farms and farmettes primarily in Frederick and Washington counties.  Rudy’s interests aside from work and spending time with his family included bowling, shooting pool, and playing golf until his health no longer permitted.

He is survived by son, James Allen Warfield, Norfolk, Virginia; grandson Richard Williams, San Antonio, Texas; brother Douglas Warfield, New Market, Maryland; and sister Vera Dischinger, Baltimore, Maryland.  In addition, he is survived by the following  nephews and nieces:  Michael Warfield, Cebu, Philippines;  JoAnn Warfield, Strasburg, Virginia; David Warfield, Edinburg, Virginia; Timothy Warfield, New Market, Maryland;  Susan Warfield, Frostburg, Maryland;  Patricia , Judith, and Janet Dischinger, Baltimore, Maryland; Kyle Warfield, New Market, Maryland; Justin Warfield, Hermosa Beach, California; and Hannah Warfield, Weaverville, North Carolina.  He is fondly remembered by Doris (Cookie) Redmond and family, his devoted caregivers for several years prior to his moving into Tranquility in July of 2013.

In addition to his wife Patty, he was predeceased by his only daughter, Denise Ann Williams,  siblings Donald M. Warfield, Joseph Warfield, Margaret Ellis, and nephews Donald M. Warfield, Jr. and Zachary G. Warfield.

A private burial will take place at the Prospect Methodist Church Cemetery near Mt. Airy.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Town of Mt. Airy, 110 S. Main Street, Mt. Airy, MD 21771 for maintaining or enhancing the Mt. Airy Town Park, across the street from where he resided for over 50 years.
