Mrs. Dana Michelle ( Moore ) Hawes, 42, of Brunswick , died on Saturday, July 24 th , 2010 at Frederick Memorial Hospital . Dana remained courageous and held a positive outlook throughout her 8 years with breast cancer.

She is survived by her husband of 15 years George F. Hawes, III. and her daughters Kendra P. and Kaitlin C. Hawes whom she cherished. She loved to watch them dance and swim.

Dana was born July 26, 1967 in Frederick , Maryland , the daughter of Dennis Eugene and Gloria Hines Moore of Brunswick .
She was a member of the Brownsville Church of the Brethren. Dana retired in 2009 after 24 years of service with USAMRMC at Ft. Detrick . Dana was a graduate of Brunswick High School class of 1985. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was a sports enthusiast and a fan of the Baltimore Orioles and the Washington Redskins. Dana was an avid bowler on teams at Ft. Detrick .
Surviving in addition to her husband, daughters and parents are two sisters, Dawn Petruzzello and husband Steve of Frederick, Danielle Clary and husband George “ Bubba “ Clary of Brunswick,
Mother and father-in law, Hypatia G. and George F. Hawes, Jr. of Lovettsville, VA. She was the aunt of Erika Clary, Andrew Clary and Alaina Petruzzello, whom she enjoyed spending time with and was like a second mother to. Dana loved her dogs Tug and Ripken and her cat Durango. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives. She was preceded in death by
her maternal grandparents Ruth and Gorman Hines, paternal grandparents Fred Moore and
Anna Lee ( Moore ) Kidwiler.
The family will receive friends at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1100 N. Maple Ave., Brunswick, on Wednesday, July 28 th , from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Services will be held on Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at the Brownsville Church of the Brethren , 1911 Rohrersville Rd., Brownsville, with Rev. Alan Smith officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services. Interment in Lovettsville Union Cemetery.
