Dale "Big Man" Wayne Stevens, Jr., 53, of West Franklin Street, Hagerstown, Maryland, died peacefully on Sunday, September 13, 2009, at Gilchrist Hospice Center in Towson, Maryland.
Born on August 16, 1956, he was the son of Frances M. (Marshall) Tennant of Shepherdstown, West Virgina, and the late Dale Wayne Stevens, Sr.
Dale was a 1974 graduate of Boonsboro High School and was known as an avid supported of the Warriors and a lifelong Washington Redskins Fan. He was also active in his support of the Little League and was affectionately known as the "Hot Dog Man" while participating with the Hagerstown Thunder All Star Cheerleading.
Mr. Stevens was a maintenence employee with the St. James School for 14 years.
In addition to his mother, Dale is survived by his three sisters, Teresa Y. and her husband, Robert Keebaugh of Shepherdstown, West Virginia, Dawn R. And her husband Keith Snyder of Shepherdstown, West Virginia, and April E. and her husband Johnny Hilliard of Falling Waters, West Virginia; one brother, Gregory L. Stevens of Shepherdstown, West Virginia; one niece Amanda L. Stevens of Sharpsburg, Maryland; and one nephew Keith S. Snyder, Jr. of Shepherdstown, West Virginia. Dale is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Dale was preceded in death by his sister Karen Sue Stevens, and his nephew Christopher L. Snyder.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, September 17, 2009 at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro, Maryland. Rev. Todd Fitzgerald will officiate. Burial will be at the Manor Church Cemetery in Boonsboro, Maryland.
Friends are invited to visit at the funeral home on Wednesday, September 16, 2009 beginning at 9 a.m., where the family will receive friends from 6 - 8 p.m.
