Mrs. D. Joan (Joann) Clingan, 69, of Middletown died peacefully on Friday, November 8, 2013 at Somerford Place. She was the loving wife of nearly 46 years to Carl E. Clingan.
Born September 10, 1944 in Frederick, she was the daughter of the late James R. and Margaret Cromwell Harding.
She was a homemaker taking special care of her children and grandchildren throughout the years. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by daughters, Kassie Fritz and companion, Ronald E. Werking, of Frederick, and Sirena Edwards and husband, Kelly, of Walkersville; step-daughter, Misti C. Payne and husband, Milton, of Leesville, SC; sons, James T. Boyer, Jr. of Smithsburg, and Charles E. Boyer and wife, Christine, of Middletown; brother, Thomas E. Harding and wife, Patsy, of Frederick; sister, Linda D. Swann and husband, Joseph, of Frederick; brother-in-law, Richard (Bing) Keeney of Myersville; and 10 grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a brother, James R. Harding, Jr., and a sister, M. Dolores Keeney.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A., 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, where funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 14.
Interment will follow in Linden Hills Cemetery. Serving as Pall Bearers will be James T. Boyer, Jr., Charles E. Boyer, B. Kellly Edwards, James T. Boyer, III, Richard E. Boyer and Travis S. Clingan. Honorary bearers will be Spc. Nicholas W. Edwards, Pfc. Cody W. Edwards, and Nicholas J. Payne.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Western Maryland Chapter, 108 Byte Drive, Frederick, MD 21702.
