Craig W. Rice

Mr. Craig W. Rice, 53, of Walkersville went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 15, 2007, with his family by his side at his residence. He was the husband of Mary Kwasneski Rice, his wife of 20 years.

Born on December 16, 1953, in Frederick, he was the son of Melvin L. and Betty Eyler Rice of Frederick. He was a 1971 graduate of Thomas Johnson High School and continued his education at Frederick Community College. Following 23 years of distinguished service at Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory, Craig realized his lifetime dream upon opening Heritage Precision, a research and development facility. Mr. Rice was a devoted member of the First Frederick Church of the Nazarene where he was a trustee, served on the church board, and sang in the choir. An avid sportsman, he enjoyed golf, snow and water skiing, baseball and fishing.

Surviving in addition to his wife and parents are a son, Matthew Corey Rice of Walkersville; a brother, Mark S. Rice and wife Sally of Frederick; 4 nieces and nephews: Todd Rice and wife Stephanie of Thurmont, Tim Rice and fiance Mary Staub of Emmitsburg, Jennifer Wilkins and husband Mike of Frederick and Jessica Robinson and husband Shane of Baltimore; an aunt Nancy Kepler of Frederick; a sister-in-law, Margaret Sherald of Frederick and his mother-in-law, Marian J. Kwasneski of Frederick, as well as numerous cousins.

Visitation: The family will receive friends from 7-9 PM on Sunday, February 18, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick.

Services: Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, February 19, at the First Frederick Church of the Nazarene, 7899 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick with Rev. Rob Merki officiating.

Interment will take place in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick with Thomas Custer, Stephen Sadowski, James Bill, Alden Rice, Todd Rice and Tim Rice serving as pallbearers.
