Cornell "Ted" Lewis, Jr.

March 11, 1964 — January 27, 2017

Cornell Theodore Lewis, Jr. (Ted), 52, of Mt. Airy, MD, passed from this life on January 27, 2017.  He is survived by his beloved wife, Kimberly, his parents, Cornell Theodore Lewis, Sr. and Joan Patterson Lewis, his sister, Patsy L. Spence, a niece, Danita Caleb, and a grandniece, Blair Dyer.

Ted was born March 11, 1964 in Washington, D.C. He went to public schools in Montgomery County, where an aptitude test in high school predicted that Ted would be suited to a career in law enforcement.  He received a degree in Computer Based Accounting at the Stratford Business School.
Ted spent his career at the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, where he served as a Deputy Sheriff and an instructor at the Police Academy.  He retired as a Lieutenant Sheriff in 2014 after 25 years of service.

Ted loved kids, cars, skiing, cigars and craft beer.  His enthusiasm for kids led him to a second career as Security Officer at the Howard County Applications and Research Laboratory, where he was a friend and mentor to the students.

A Celebration of Ted's life will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at the Legacy Hall, Sykesville Fire Department, 6680 Sykesville Road, Sykesville, MD.
