Cora Martz

Cora Mae Martz, 92, of Mt. Lena, Maryland passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2016 at her home.

Born in Beaver Creek, Maryland on December 29, 1923, she is the daughter of the late Adam and Mary Green.

She spent most of her free time being outdoors. Cora was an avid bird collector and loved flowers.

She spent some years as a housekeeper however most of her time was spent with her family.

Cora is survived by her daughter, Mary Ann Martin and husband David of Boonsboro; granddaughters, Tina Wolfe-Perkins of Sharpsburg, Maryland and Tammy Russell and husband Melvin of Smithsburg, Maryland; great-grandchildren, Christopher Wolfe, Curtis Wolfe, Jessica Wolfe and Justyn Russell; great-great-grandchildren, Raven, Autumn, and Joey. Cora is also survived by other living immediate family members including her sister, Mary Gisinger, brother, Junior Green, and Connie Barentine, whom she raised.

In addition to her parents, Cora was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Hubert E. Martz who passed away on June 16, 1996. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Herman Green, sisters, Jane Line, Dorothy Hutzell, and Pauline Cline; grandsons, Lawrence L. Wolfe, Jr and Robert Perkins.

A funeral ceremony will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at the Community Mennonite Church in Mt. Lena. There is a viewing scheduled immediately before the church service, beginning at 10:00 a.m. The Pastor Paul Clemmer will officiate. Final resting place ceremonies will follow at the Mt. Lena United Methodist Church Cemetery, 21234 Mt. Lena Road, Boonsboro, Maryland 21713.

The family will be receiving friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro.
