Cora Hood

Cora Virginia Hood, age 83, was born and raised in Mount Airy, Maryland and died on Friday, April 13, 2018 at Lorien Nursing Home in Mount Airy.
Virginia was born on July 20, 1934, to the late Howard Hamilton Hood and the late Goldie (Harry) Hood of Mount Airy, Maryland. She was predeceased by her sisters, Mary Ruth Hood and Pearl Marie (Hood) Robertson of Mount Airy; brothers, Howard W. Hood of Mount Airy and Oliver Hood of Frederick. Virginia retired from Liberty MutuaI Insurance Co. in Baltimore and she enjoyed reading and traveling. She was a life-long member of Calvary United Methodist Church of Mount Airy.
Virginia is survived by her good friends and neighbors Ben Gue and Rick Lawson of Mount Airy, and nieces and nephews: Yvonne (Robertson) Davis, Allan Robertson, Deborah (Robertson) Brennan, Lisa (Robertson) Ernst, Jean (Hood) Haines, Eddie Hood; and Billy Hood; and numerous great nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 10-11 AM on Tuesday, April 17, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 East Ridgeville Blvd in Mt. Airy where services will take place at 11:00 AM with Rev. Tom Gue officiating. Interment will be in Prospect Cemetery, Mt. Airy .
