Connie Louise Hoffman, 84, of Frederick, passed away on March 12, 2024, at Frederick Health Hospital. Born on August 8, 1939, she was the fourth of five children of the late Leo and Ruth Amelia Kuhn Brandenburg.
Connie attended Frederick High School, and then began a lifelong career in retail working for various stores such as Rovin’s Corner, Sidney’s and most recently Burlington Coat Factory. She would often reminisce of going to New York City on fashion merchandising trips throughout her career that spanned well over fifty years. She was a member of the Frederick Amvets and the local V.F.W. serving on the Ladies Auxiliary, Owls Club and a local bowling league that at one time traveled to Europe to bowl. She loved spending time with family and friends, playing golf and playing cards. Connie was always up for a trip to Las Vegas or Atlantic City whenever the opportunity presented itself. She was a collector of old five dollar bills. She loved all dogs and was a Mother to countless fur babies over her lifetime providing them with a loving home.
She is survived by her husband Donald Meredith Hoffman, on New’s Years Eve they celebrated their 67th Wedding Anniversary. She would often share the story of their first meeting, a double date, but her date at the time was not with Donald and would end her story with a chuckle.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews, Donna Burtner and husband Steve of Jefferson, Diana Crane and husband Thomas of Conway, SC, Thomas Keller of Baltimore, Renee Brandenburg -Huffer of Walkersville and Charles Brandenburg and wife Jennifer of Myersville and numerous great nieces and nephews. Sister in laws Hilda Hoffman, Mary Hoffman Marker, Michelle Poplo, Christina Poplo, brother in law Vincent Poplo.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Ellen Baltzley and husband John, Doris Keller and husband Pete, Janice Geisbert and husband Calvin, Leo Brandenburg, and nieces Terry Keller and Yvonne Powell. Brothers in law Thomas Hoffman, Earl Hoffman, Clarence Marker and Casimir “Tony” Poplo.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 20 from 11 am to 12 pm at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, where a funeral service will begin at 12 pm in the chapel of the funeral home. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
She was blessed to have special caregivers niece, Donna Burtner and nephew and Godson, Charles Brandenburg who have provided care for her over the last several years. The family would also like to thank the doctors and nurses at Frederick Health in the ICU and Hospice Units for providing exceptional care over the last few days.
