Colleen Tricia Hunter Maddux went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday March 19, 2014. Born on June 10, 1970, she was a beautiful, lively, energetic person for all of her life.
A graduate of Linganore High School, she also graduated from Tennessee Technology Center.
Colleen worked at Frederick Memorial Hospital from 1988 – 1990 as a Unit Secretary, and on the Mother-Baby Unit, then moved south for a time. Upon her return to the Frederick, Maryland area, she had worked at Homewood Retirement for the past several years. She was the recipient of the Frederick County LPN of the Year award in 2008 and was much loved by the residents of Homewood.
She is survived by her beautiful daughter, Sydney Elaine Maddux, her loving parents Charles George and Peggy Hunter of Union Bridge, her sister “Small Fry” Amanda Hunter Ruch of Myersville, Amanda’s spouse Dave Ruch, her sister Gretchen Hunter of Homosassa, FL, her sister Rebecca Hunter Thomas of Hagerstown, MD, her brother Michael Amos of Albany, Georgia, her grandmother “GrahamCracker” of West Virginia, her Aunt Becky and family of Iowa. She is also survived by Michael’s children: Stephen, Lauren, Daniel, Mary, Jonathan and Abigail. Rebecca’s children, Rachel, Savannah and Haven, who will greatly miss their “Aunt Colleen.” She had a Great Niece, Brooke and a Great Nephew, Seth. Colleen had a large extended family and numerous friends. She touched many lives during her time here with us and we are thankful for it. We appreciate the thoughts and prayers of her many friends. We want to thank the staff at Frederick Memorial Hospital for their help and consideration.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that Memorial Contributions be made for her daughter Sydney – Sydney Maddux Trust , in care of PNC Bank , 11717 Old National Pike, New Market, MD 21774.
