COL John Emery Justice, US Army (Ret), 70, of Frederick, MD passed away on August 18, 2017. Born in San Diego, CA, on May 20, 1947, John was the only son of Virginia Maxine Flint formerly of Rainelle, WV and the adopted son of Charles Paul “Curley” Justice, Sr., a long-time pharmacist in Montgomery, WV. He was preceded in death by his mother and father. He is survived by Karen, his wife, friend and partner, and his sisters, Sandra Elizabeth Justice of Las Vegas, NV and Paulette Susan Justice of Charleston, WV.
John fondly remembered the adventures with his high school classmates, his West Virginia University Sigma Chi fraternity brothers, and the brave and resourceful soldiers he had the honor and privilege to serve with around the world. He served 31 years as a proud member of the US Army Intelligence Corps. John began service as a Private (draftee) in 1969 and was progressively promoted to the rank of Colonel, retiring in 2000.
John was a freemason in WV, MD and Germany for over 49 years and was honored to serve as Master and secretary of Acacia Lodge No 155 in Thurmont, MD.
At the time of his death, John was VP, Operations with RW Garcia Snack Foods Co. of Las Vegas, NV.
Visitation hours with the family will be held at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD, on Saturday, August 26, 2017, from 1:00 -2:30 pm. The day will conclude with a Masonic Memorial Service at 2:30 p.m. On a date still to be determined, and with a military chapel service, Colonel John E. Justice will be buried with full military honors in Arlington National Cemetery.
