Clyde Frank {Hoot} Gibson, Jr.

Mr. Clyde Frank Hoot Gibson, Jr., 74 of Woodbine, died Friday, February 19, 2010 at the University of Maryland Hospital.

He was the husband of Helen W. Gibson, his wife of 37 years.

Born October 25, 1935 in Pittsburgh, Pa, he was the son of the late Clyde, Sr. And Helen Gibson.

Mr. Gibson was a member of the Washington, D. C. Metropolitan Police Dept. From 1963 until he was appointed to the Uniformed Division of the United States Secret Service in May 1966, where he served until he retired in July 1987.

He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Damascus, MD. Mr. Gibson was a active member of the Mt. Airy Lions Club for 16 years, and served as the Fishing Derby Chairman for 12. He was awarded the Melvin Jones Fellow Award, which is the highest award in the Club, for his outstanding service for 2008-2009. Clyde served his Country in the U. S. Army.

He attended American University, for two years, in Washington, D. C.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his daughter Amy Gibson Engel and husband Joe of Charles Town WV, his son Clyde F. Gibson, III of Woodbine, MD, aunt and uncle Ruth and Frank Bachle, and cousins Mary Tanney and Anna Marie Hinnenbush, all of Pittsburgh, PA.

Visitation: The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 E. Ridgeville Blvd., Mt. Airy on Wednesday, February 24, from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m.

Services: Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, February 25, at 1:00 pm at the Prospect Methodist Church, 5923 Woodville Road, Mt. Airy with Rev. Irvin Stapf officiating.
Interment will be in the church cemetery.
