Clyde Philip Kefauver, 93, of Braddock Heights, Maryland died peacefully on September 19, 2015 at the Vindobona Nursing Home, at Braddock Heights, MD.

Born in Mt. Pleasant, Maryland, on January 15, 1922, Clyde was the son of the late Jacob and Grace Kefauver. Clyde is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Nayoda "Kitty" Kefauver, his brother-in-law, Thomas Kincaid and his wife Linda Kincaid, of Braddock Heights, MD, his sister-in-law Lee Kincaid, of Tucson, AZ, his children, Timothy Kefauver and his wife Debbie (Fry) Kefauver of Braddock Heights, Dr. Jeanne (Kefauver) Mason and her husband B. Dale Mason of Bannockburn, IL, and his grandchildren, Jennifer (Kefauver) Mitchell and her husband Joshua Mitchell of Adamstown, MD and Philip Kefauver and his fiancé Angie Kendle of Yellow Springs, MD, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Clyde served in the United States Navy, from 1943 to 1945. After returning from WWII, he began his 42 year civilian career with the US Army at Ft. Detrick, in Frederick, Maryland. In 1989, Clyde retired from his position as the Chief of the Self Service Supply Store.

Clyde loved the outdoors, working in his yard and fishing on the Potomac river. Nothing gave him a greater pleasure than perfectly even rows when he finished mowing his lawn. He was a voracious reader -- he loved reading his newspapers. Even when gone for weeks on a trip, upon returning home, he read every paper, front to back -- especially not wanting to miss his favorite comic strips.

After retiring, Clyde was able to travel, visiting many countries -- Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Turkey, Greece, Egypt, Italy, Germany, France, Switzerland, UK, Scotland and two trips to the Holy Lands. He loved trains and a special highlight of his travels was a trip on the Orient Express. When he was no longer able to travel he loved to reminisce about his adventures. He would remember even the smallest details of his trips with his wife.

While Clyde wasn't a big baseball fan, he was the No.1 fan at his grandson Phil's baseball games, receiving in 2006 a special award from the team for his perfect attendance at all his games.

Clyde will be remembered for his easy smile, his kind and gentle spirit, and his deep and enduring love for his family.
