Clyde Gilbert

Mr. Clyde Nelson Gilbert, Sr., 79, of Frederick, MD, passed away on Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at his home. He was the husband of Mary Gilbert for 57 years.

Born on January 2, 1932 in Danville, VA he was the son of the late James and Hattie Ingram Gilbert.

Prior to his retirement Clyde worked as a Remodeling Contractor. He enjoyed spending time with his family, singing, westerns, playing the organ, cooking, eating crabs, playing cards and the lottery and his gospel on Sundays.

In addition to his wife he is survived by children Gaye Eckenrode of Frederick, adopted daughter Pamela Glass of Frederick, Ricky Gilbert of Berkley Springs ,WV, Vicky Nickens and husband Gregory of Adamstown, Kathy Moberly and husband Donald of Brunswick and Cindy Remson of Damascus; grandchildren Joe and Laurie Eckenrode, Rick Gilbert, Sherry and Crystal Waselchalk, Katherine, April, D.J. and Daniel Davis, Tyler and Rick Remson; great-grandchildren Devon and Blake; brothers John M. Gilbert and wife Diane of Danville and Chase Gilbert of Martinsburg, VA.

He is preceded in death by grandson Jonathan and great-granddaughter Sophie.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-9PM on Sunday, June 26, at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, where services will be held on Monday, June 27 at 11AM. The Rev. Lloyd E. Fuss will officiate.

Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet cemetery.
