Clyde Aloysius Dinsmore passed into the arms of the Lord on June 5, 2016. Clyde was born on August 15, 1926 in Texas, Maryland. He was the son of Charles Franklin Dinsmore and Gunigunda Mary Schmidt Dinsmore. He attended St. Joseph’s Grammar School in Texas, MD and All Saints Catholic School in Baltimore. He graduated from Calvert Hall College High School in Baltimore in June 1944 where he was a member of the State Guard. Clyde joined the U.S. Army Air Force after graduation. He was trained as a B-29 gunner, but World War II ended before he saw action; he was then sent to Germany as part of the Occupation Army before being discharged in 1946. Clyde then attended the Baltimore Institute to prepare for the C.P.A. exam.
On June 23, 1951, he married his loving wife Charlotte M. Dinsmore at All Saints Catholic Church, moved to Frederick in December 1952, and worked for James Rimler C.P.A. Clyde passed his exam and became one of the first C.P.A.s to practice in Frederick. The firm Rimler and Dinsmore merged with the Stoy, Malone Firm in Bethesda, and later became Keller, Zanger, and Bissell. Clyde retired in December 1987 from the firm as their Senior Tax Partner. He always loved working with taxes, but his first love was his family, Church, and friends. He also loved working in his garden with his vegetables and beautiful flowers until his health declined in later years from heart problems.
During Clyde’s working years, he accomplished much: he served on the first Board of Directors of Prospect Hall High School, and also served as a Board Member for the Community Foundation, the Visitation Academy, and the Friends of Catholic Education. Clyde loved his Church - St. John’s – where he was an Usher for many years and served on numerous committees. He was a good and caring person who will be missed by many for his gentle nature.
Clyde is survived by his loving and devoted wife Charlotte and five children: Kenneth A. Dinsmore of Frederick, Charlotte M. Demory (Steve) of Boonsboro, Linda C. Dinsmore of Frederick, Donald C. Dinsmore Sr. (Pam) of Bradenton, FL, and Robert E. Dinsmore (special friend Michelle Dextras) of Frederick; four grandchildren: Clement E. Gardiner (Grace) of Seattle, WA, Laura E. Gardiner of New York City, Eric S. Demory of Boonsboro, Staff Sergeant Donald C. Dinsmore Jr. (Alison) of Honolulu, HI. Clyde is also survived by two sisters: Audrey Spyr (William) of Indianapolis, IN, and Dorothy DiMaio of Baltimore, two sisters-in-law: Loretto A. Keller of Pensacola, FL and Alberta Ashburn of Portland OR, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers: Vernon, Norman, and Gordon Dinsmore, and two sisters: Frances Murphy, and Mary Romanowski.
