Clifton Liller

November 16, 1935 — December 14, 2016

Clifton Earl Liller, 81, of Thurmont, died at his home on Wednesday December 14th, 2016 surrounded by his family.
Born November 16, 1935 in Old Fields, WVa., the son of the late Clifton Edward Liller and Golda Merritt Liller.
He was the loving husband of 62 years to Pauline G. Troxell Liller.  They had six children, Ricky Liller and wife Barbara of Frederick, Steven Liller and wife Jan of Florida, Jeffrey Liller and wife Allonia of Thurmont, Charles Liller and wife Mary Beth of Emmitsburg, Pamela Lawson and husband Carl Rick of Middletown and Paula Carter and partner Rob Summers of Frederick.
He has 14 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by grandson Michael Liller.
He was the second of eight children and is survived by siblings, Lola Wastler of Thurmont, Howard “Bill” Liller and wife Jane of Georgia, Robert Liller  and wife Holly of Taneytown, Shirley Knipple of McSherrystown, Pa., Linda Clapsaddle and husband Gary of Aspers, Pa., and Rosa Smith of Waynesboro, Pa.  He is also survived by sister-in-law Wilma Liller, and was preceded in death by brother Harold Liller of Taneytown and brothers-in-law Frank Wastler of Yellow Springs, MD and Joe Smith of Waynesboro, PA.  He will be dearly missed by his many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
He was a 1953 graduate of Emmitsburg High School.  He was a life-long farmer, devoted husband and father.  A 100% family man, Clifton worked hard but always had time for his family.  He volunteered with the South Frederick Minor Baseball League, and was also an active member of the Yellow Springs Lions Club for many years.
He loved to hunt, fish and enjoyed the outdoors.  He loved to smile, sing and make people happy.

Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 East Main Street Thurmont, MD 21778 on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Visitation will also be held on Wednesday from 10-11:00 a.m. at Mt. Tabor United Church of Christ, 10043 Longs Mill Road, Rocky Ridge, MD 21778.  Services will follow at 11:00 a.m.
Interment will be in Mount Tabor United Church of Christ Cemetery
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made  to the  Daybreak Adult Day Program, Clifton E. Liller Scholarship Program,  7819 Rocky Springs Road, Frederick, MD 21702, which will assist families at their time of need  or Hospice of Frederick County, 516 Trail Avenue, Frederick, MD 21701.
