Mr. Claude (Bud) C. Beals, Jr. 88 of Frederick, MD died Wednesday, September 17th at Citizen Care and Rehabilitation Center. He was the husband of Dolores Eve Beals.
He was born May 7, 1926 he was the son of the late Claude C. Beals, Sr. and Regina Williams Beals.
Claude served in the United States Army Air Corp. He was a radio mechanic and earned the American Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and Victory Medal -World War II.
He graduated from Ohio State University in 1951 with a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering degree.
Bud loved sailing with his wife Dolores on the Choptank River and Chesapeake Bay. He enjoyed bird watching, decoy carving and his dogs Bonnie and Beau.
Buds work experience from Nov. 1973 to Jan. 1985 was with the Atomic Energy Commission in the Research and Development Department Administration.
From 1967 to Nov. 1973 he was with the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission in Germantown, MD as a Reactor Engineer in the Division of Reactor Development and Technology of the Components Branch.
From Oct. 1962 to Feb. 1967 he was with NASA Lewis Research Center in Cleveland, Ohio as an Aerospace Engineer in Project Management and Reliability.
His earlier career included Amsler-Morton as Chief Development Engineer, also Westinghouse Electric Corporation as Senior Design Engineer and Diamond Power Specialty Corp. as Project Engineer in Research and Development.
In addition to his loving wife Dolores he is survived by his loving and devoted son John David Beals of Boyds, MD, two devoted daughters, Linda Sue Beals of NC and Vicki Ann Stevens and husband Robert of Chincoteague, VA four grandchildren, Emily, David, Traci and Kelley. He will also be remembered by his great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Norma Beals, a daughter, Barbara Beals and a brother Jack Beals.
A private memorial service will be held at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick on Saturday, October 18th at 3:00pm with Rev. Tim May officiating. The family will receive friends at from 2:00pm until service time.
Interment will be private.
In lieu of flower memorial contributions may be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association, 135 Parkinson Ave., Staten Island, NY 10305.
