Clark E. Phebus Jr. (62) of Frederick, MD passed away on Thursday Dec 18, 2014, following a yearlong fight with pancreatic cancer. Clark was born on September 23, 1952 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the eldest of four children of Clark and Wilma (Mantz) Phebus.
Clark was an 8th generation resident of Frederick, MD and graduated from TJ High School in 1970. He married Beverly Christie, his high school sweetheart, in 1971. Clark proudly served his country in the Army National Guard from 1970-1976, he worked at Dickerson Power Plant as an operator and supervisor for 37 years, retiring in 2010, and then enjoyed driving a special needs school bus for Frederick County Public Schools from 2012-2013.
When Clark wasn’t at work, he was always involved in something, driven by his passion for people and life. He was very involved at Emmanuel Alliance Church, helping in the construction and maintenance of the building as well as serving as an Elder and board member. He also enjoyed taking family vacations, camping, going to auctions, collecting and restoring antiques. He had a heart of joy, evident when you heard him whistling while doing tasks.
Clark was preceded in death by his siblings Mark and Nanette Phebus, and nephew Benjamin Phebus.
Clark is survived by his wife of 43 years Beverly; daughter Jennifer Hooper, her husband Jeff and their children Elizabeth and Elijah; son Christopher Phebus and his wife Valerie; daughter Kimberly Alger, her husband Brad, and their children Noah, Uriah, and Philip; parents Clark Phebus Sr. and Wilma Phebus; brother Eric Phebus and wife Janet; sister-in-law Joanne; many nieces and nephews.
The Family will receive friends from 2 -4 and 7 -9 p.m. on Sunday, December 21, 2014, at the Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A., 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, Maryland.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 22, 2014 at the Emmanuel Alliance Church, 7102 Ladd Lane, Frederick, Maryland. Rev. Steven Kroh and Rev. Rob Simone will officiate. Final resting-place ceremonies will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Frederick.
