Clara Myers

Clara Catherine Myers, 92, of Thurmont, passed from this life on Wednesday, September 26 at Glade Valley Nursing & Rehab in Walkersville. She was the wife of the late Lawrence Calvin Myers. Born on August 13, 1926 in Franklinville, MD, she was the daughter of Edward Dewees and Beulah M. (O'Connor) Dewees.
Mrs. Myers graduated from Thurmont High School, Class of 1945. Before children, Clara worked at Thurmont Shoe Company, Claire Frock and Camp Airy. In 1950, her daughter Christine was born, and she stayed at home to raise their family, daughter Theresa and son Dennis. She loved the beach, especially Myrtle Beach, SC. She was a lifetime member of Graceham Moravian Church. Clara was a mother to everyone, was loved by all, and will be dearly missed.
Mrs. Myers is survived by her children: Christine Kline and husband Jeff Keyser of Thurmont, Theresa (Tee) Canfield and husband Donald (Jr.) of Keedysville and son Dennis Myers of Hagerstown; 4 grandchildren: Denise Hahn and husband Christopher of Woodsboro, Greg Dorsey and wife Darlene of Florida, Donald Dorsey and wife Jenni of Keedysville and Bryan Myers and wife Bre of Thurmont; 5 great-grandchildren: Thomas Brooks, Dalen Hahn, Maddi Dorsey, Jack Dorsey and Valerie Purcell as well as a sister: Lula (Lou) Chalmers of Massachusetts and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 9 brothers and sisters.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 29 and Sunday, September 30 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main Street, Thurmont. A celebration of Clara's life journey will take place on Monday, October 1 at 10:00 am at Graceham Moravian Church, 8231 Rocky Ridge Road, Thurmont. Pastor Sue Koenig officiating. Interment will be in Blue Ridge Cemetery, Thurmont.
