Clara Hampton

Clara Lucile Hampton was born in Warwick, Rhode Island, on June 11, 1927, the sixth of seven children, born to the late Walter L. and Lettie H (Robinson) Waite. She departed this life at the Golden Living Center in Hagerstown, MD, on Jan. 28, 2009, after an short illness.
Clara met and married Charles R. Hampton. From that union their children, Laurellet Hampton Kirby, Charles R. Hampton (Junior) and Gail E. Hampton were born. They were married 28 years until his death in 1975.
Clara leaves to mourn her loss and cherish her memory, the most devoted daughters and son, Laurellet (Laura) Kirby and son-in-law, Harold R. Kirby of Boonsboro, MD; Gail E. Hampton of Providence, RI; Charles R. Hampton of Providence, RI; three grandsons, Earl Kirby, Charles Kirby and Anthony R. Hampton; three great-grandsons, Charles (Teko) Kirby, Pierre Kirby and Jahlil Kirby; one sister, Laura Balcom of Cranston, RI; one brother, William Waite of Providence, RI; dedicated nieces, Sandra Scott, Dorothy Davis and Vivian Balcom; and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Clara was predececeased by one brother, Clarence A. Waite; and three sisters, Dorothy E. Carr, Marie Turner and Cynthia Davis-Jackson.
A homecoming service will be held 1 P.M. Monday at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home in Boonsboro. The Rev. R. Thomas Fralin Jr. will officiate. There will be viewing or visitation.
