Christopher Morlan

Christopher David Morlan, 46, of Thurmont, Maryland, passed from this life on Thursday, December 23, 2021 at Frederick Health Hospital in Frederick, MD.

Born on June 23, 1975, in Takoma Park, Maryland, he was the son of David (Margaret) Morlan and Gina Morlan.

Beloved husband of Nicole Morlan, his wife of 5 years.

A 1993 graduate of South River High School (A.A. Co), he also attended Frostburg University and Anne Arundel Community College.

In 1998 Chris joined the Frederick County Division of Fire and Rescue Services as a member of recruit class 1.  He moved up through the ranks to his current position of Battalion Chief.  Chris honorably served the citizens of Frederick County for 23 years.  A decorated firefighter, he was the recipient of the Gold Medal of Valor, two Life Saving Awards, and several Unit Citations.

Prior to his fire career, Chris was an active volunteer member of the Mt. Rainier Volunteer Department Company 3 in Prince Georges County, MD from 1994-2000.  Chris was a beloved coach with the Thurmont Little League and Catoctin Youth Basketball.  During the last six years he coached as well as having served on the Thurmont Little League Board of Directors.  Chris was also an active member of the Frederick County Career Firefighters Association IAFF Local 3666.

Chris was an avid history buff, loved trips to Gettysburg, ghost hunts, and he enjoyed painting and drawing. His love of the Washington Capitals came second to his love of baseball.   Above all else, his greatest joy was his children.  He was always their #1 fan.

He is survived by his wife Nicole Morlan, his parents David (Margaret) and Gina Morlan, his children Christopher Morlan, Jr., Patrick Morlan, Nathaniel Morlan, Abigail Morlan, Bohdi Morlan, and step children Noah Chow, Ava Chow, and Evan Chow, his sisters Kelly (Marcus) Evans and Stacey Morlan (Charles Taylor), and nieces Kelcey, Gabby, and Marley, and nephews Keaton, Brayden, and Talon, as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 1:00-4:00pm and 6:00-8:30pm on Sunday January 2, 2022 at Stauffer Funeral Homes, 1621 Opossumtown Pike in Frederick MD.

A celebration of Christophers’ life will take place at 12:00 pm on Monday, January 3, 2022 at Mount Saint Mary’s Knott Auditorium in Emmitsburg, Md.  Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Cemetery 121 N. Altamont Ave, Thurmont, Md 21788. Repass will be held immediately following at the Thurmont Event Complex located at 13716 Strafford Dr., Thurmont, Md 21788.
