Christopher Thomas Burnett peacefully entered the Kingdom of Heaven on January 1, 2025, at age 56. He was born in Springfield, Massachusetts to Thomas R. Burnett and Irene (Salamon) Burnett. He is survived by his adoring wife, Lucy (D’Amario) Burnett and two children, Lieutenant Timothy P. Burnett (Emily) and Julianna Burnett Chatlin (Michael).
Also surviving are brother Michael Burnett (Frances), sister Donna Burnett Pace (Chuck), brother Shawn Burnett (Laura), and brother Brendan Burnett (Jill). Additionally, Chris is survived by a growing extended family.
As a young man, Chris enjoyed scouting and developed an enduring passion for soccer. He graduated from Franklin High School in 1986 and went on to earn his B.S. in Physics with a focus in Nuclear Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He shared a loving marriage with his wife of 34 years, Lucy, and was a devoted father to their children, Timothy and Julianna.
Chris spent his entire professional career at what is currently ThermoFisher Scientific. As a client-focused senior technical product manager, Chris’ talents as a scientist and a leader were optimized. Chris’ work allowed him to travel extensively, visiting six of the seven continents.
Chris’ sharp mind was only surpassed by his immense heart. Despite a demanding work and travel schedule, Chris found time to serve the Lord by supporting his community. He volunteered as a Scoutmaster for the local Cub and Boy Scout Troop 428 from 2000 to 2012. He was a volunteer parent representative for the Carroll County YMCA Piranhas swim team for ten years.
Chris’ deep faith guided his principled life. He embraced Jesus as a member of Saint Michael Catholic Church Poplar Springs.
Despite his commitment to his community and career, Chris was most proud of his family.
Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Mass held at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 10, 2025, at St. Michael Catholic Church Poplar Springs, 1125 St Michaels Road, Mt. Airy, MD 21771.
