Christine Loomis

Christine S. Loomis, 91, passed away on Monday, June 3, 2019, at her home in Somerford House, Frederick, MD.  She was the wife of Peter Loomis, her husband of 56 years when he died in 2005.
Born on March 31, 1928, in Washington, DC, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Thespina (Karapantilakis) Stephanos.  She is survived by her children, William and wife Colleen, Thomas and wife Christine, and Evelyn (Hobbs) and husband Scott.  Christine was also the cherished Yiayia (grandmother) to Erin Moore, Kristin Loomis and Peter Loomis; Michael, Rachel and Emily Loomis; and Megan Hobbs.  In addition, she had many wonderful nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and great great nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents (Thomas and Thespina) and siblings (Pete, Martha, Gus, Zaphy, John and Dooley) - simply put, a family of exceptional people that have passed on their love, respect and devotion to each other for current and future generations.
Christine had so many wonderful qualities; but above all, she was a patient, hard-working and selfless person that spent her life as a loving wife, devoted mother and supportive friend.  She loved and enjoyed every minute of time spent with her family.  She was proud of the early part of her career working as a secretary for the US Government, but that didn’t compare to the joy, happiness and satisfaction she experienced with every milestone as a wife, mom, grandmother, sister, godmother and aunt.
The family would like to thank the staff at Somerford House for their care of Christine over the past 16 months.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Thursday, June 6, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD 21702.  Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, June 7, at Saints Peter and Paul Greek Orthodox Church, 920 W 7th Street, Frederick, MD 21701. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 13801 Georgia Avenue, Silver Spring, MD 20906.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Saints Peter and Paul Greek Orthodox Church, 920 W 7th Street, Frederick, MD 21701.
