Christanne Haught

March 8, 1963 — May 3, 2016

Christanne Elaine( Burton) Haught left this world on May 3, 2016 after a valiant two-year battle with cancer. Christanne was born on March 8, 1963 in Spartanburg, South Carolina. She was 53 years old and resided in Mt. Airy, Maryland with her husband, Matthew Haught and their two children, Hannah and Jarrett. She was the daughter of Don and Pat Burton of Spartanburg and is survived by her brothers Bill Burton(Catherine) of Macon, Ga. and Brian Burton (Stephanie) and Lisa Ruiz (Nelson)both of Spartanburg. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Stacy Haught of Monkton, Md. and eight nieces and nephews.

Christanne graduated from Spartanburg High School and went on to receive a degree in civil engineering from the University of South Carolina. She worked for the S. C. Highway Department in Charleston before moving to Baltimore where she worked for the Army Corp of Engineers. In 2015 she received numerous awards including the Commander's Award. She will also receive The Bronze Order of the de Fleury Medal . Christanne was an avid sports fan and supported all sports involving her children as well as those of the USC Gamecocks. She treasured family vacations at Pawleys Island, S.C. and vacations with close friends at the Outer Banks in N.C. She was a member of St. Michaels Catholic Church in Mt. Airy. Christanne loved animals and will be greatly missed by her Lab, Lyla, and her cat, Charlie. She was a beautiful woman, both inside and out, and her memory will be forever cherished by those lucky enough to have known and loved her. Rest in peace, Dear One!

A Mass of Christian Burial will offered in honor of Christanne at 11:00 AM on Monday, May 9, at St. Michael's Catholic Church at Poplar Springs, 1125 St. Michael's Road, Mt. Airy, MD 21771. Mass will be followed by burial in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Christanne’s honor may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
