Chester Herbert Smith

Mr. Chester Herbert Smith, 80, of Frederick, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2010, at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of the late Catherine Smith, his wife of 48 years until her passing in 2002.

Born Dec. 27, 1929, he was the son of the late Marion and Pearle Smith.

He served in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953.

He retired from RF Kline after more than 18 years of service as an equipment operator.
Prior to his wife's death, Chester devoted his time to taking care of her.

He is survived by his three sons, Ronald L. Smith Sr. and wife, Rebecca, of Jefferson, Robert W. Smith and wife, Robin, of Frederick, Mark A. Smith and wife, Deborah, of Frederick; six grandchildren, Ronald Smith Jr., Kimberly Markoe and husband, Christopher, Chalice Smith, Cierra Smith and fiance, Andre Arthur, Chad Smith and Brandon Smith; a great-granddaughter, Brooke Markoe; a sister, Florence Hood of Frederick; and his three sisters-in-law, Lula Comegys, Rebecca Wright and Elva Mae Tobery.

He was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

Visitation: The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 28, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick.

Services: Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 29, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Stacey Brady and the Rev. Erma Dyson officiating.
Interment with military honors will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
