Chester Jardine

Chester William Jardine, age 85, departed this life on May 20, 2015 at the Kline Hospice House in Mt. Airy, Maryland.

Chester was born on June 4, 1929 in Malden, Massachusetts to Joseph Jardine and Mary Louise Fales. In addition to his parents, Chester was predeceased by his brother George Jardine and his sister Ginny Eckhart Williams. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 54 years, Anna Zippilli Jardine, and his four children: Roslyn Breitenbach and husband Mark; Joseph Jardine and wife Michelle; Celeste Jardine; and Susan Evans and husband Thomas. Chester also leaves behind seven grandchildren and one great grandchild: Dustilyn Rodgers and her son James, Hillary Courter and husband Ben, Jace Evans, Kimberly Jardine, Brooke Evans, Emily Wills, and Marla Wills.

Chester served his country from 1947 until 1952, first in the Naval Reserves and then in the United States Air Force. He was stationed in Okinawa during the Korean War where he earned the Japanese Occupation Medal, United Nations Service Medal and the Korean Service Medal.

After leaving military service, Chester worked as a Computer Systems Analyst for the Internal Revenue Service until he retired.

Chester attended Calvary United Methodist Church and participated with the OWLS program. He enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, trivia, solitaire, mints and M*A*S*H.

A Memorial Service will be held at Stauffer Funeral Home in Mt. Airy, Maryland on Wednesday, May 27, 2015. A reception will be held from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. with the Memorial Service immediately following at noon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Chester’s memory to Hospice of Frederick County.
