Charlottte O'Day

Charlotte Manita Wells O’Day, 95, of Mt. Airy, died peacefully at home. She was the wife of Thomas Joseph O’Day for 46 years and is now with him in heaven forever along with John Woods husband of Patricia Woods.

Born May 10, 1916 in Washington D.C. she was the late daughter of Charlotte Kerr Williams and Robert Wells.

She was an Arts and Craft teacher for Montgomery County for 20 years and she loved teaching children the beauty of creating art. She was the supervisor for the summer programs held many years ago at Glenmont Elementary school and her love of children and watching them grow was dear to her heart. She and Tom loved flea marketing, bingo and traveling. She raised three children and after the death of her son Dick she raised 3 grandchildren and 1 great granchild Jessica Moreland (Fred) and at the age of 70 was still volunteering at the school where her great grandaughter attended school. Charlotte was a member of the American Cancer Society.

She is survived by her son John Dorsey Donaldson (Audrey) and daughter Patricia A. Woods, grandchildren: Kathy Donaldson (Skip), Sharon (Paul) Graves and Bobby Donaldson, Ricky (Cindy), Mike (Teri), Brian Donaldson, Debbie (Scott) Hammond, Johnny (Lisa), Ron, Sean (Kristi) Woods and Tammy (Jeremy) Feaster; Neil (Sara) Greenberg and Pam (Scott) Wimmer; 20 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

Also remembered by many friends and a special daughter Helen Roberts.

Friends may call from 7-9pm on Wednesday June 15, at the Stauffer Funeral Home P. A. 8 East Ridgeville Blvd, Mt. Airy, and on Thursday June 16 at St. Paul Catholic Church, 9240 Damascus Road, Damascus from 9:30am until time of Funeral Services at 10:00am. Rev. Peter J. Sweeney will officiate. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park, Rockville. A lunch reception will follow after interment back at St. Paul Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Paul Catholic Church building fund for the future.
