Mrs. Charlotte I. Mathis, 80 of Frederick, MD. died Friday, February 23, 2007 at her home. She was the wife of the late Walter Mathis.
Born September 29, 1926 in Libertytown, MD., she was the daughter of the later Vernon and Carrie Black Smith.
Mrs. Mathis was a member of Fraternal Order of the Eagles #1067, AMVETS Post #2 and the Frederick Democrat Club. She enjoyed dancing, partying and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Lawson and husband Robert of Frederick; two sons, Robert Saxby of NY and Ronald Runkles of Frederick; nine grandchildren, Melissa Thompson, Shelynn Curry, Kimberly Saxby, Christina Marie Saxby, Robert Golden, Keith Heerd, Kevin Heerd, John David Saxby, Candice Runkles; and, seventeen great-grandchildren. She will also be remembered by her many friends. She was preceded in death by a son, John Saxby; her grandson, John Robert Rippeon, Jr.; and, a brother, Vernon J. Smith.
Visitation: The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick on Tuesday, February 27 from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 p.m.
Services:
Services will be held at the Stauffer Funeral Home Chapel, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, Maryland on Wednesday, February 28 at 2:00 p.m.,
with Rev. Wallace Lusk officiating.
Interment will be private.
