Charlotte Lare

March 31, 1932 — May 27, 2017

Mrs. Charlotte F Lare , 85, of Mount Airy passed from this life with her family by her side on Saturday, May 27, 2017, at her grandson's residence in Hampstead, MD, after a short battle with cancer. She was the wife of the late W. Stanley Lare who died on May 27, 1992.

Born on March 31, 1932, in Frizzellburg, MD, she was the daughter of the late Edgar and Alice Janson Fowble.

In her younger years she enjoyed duckpin bowling, playing softball, camping and the family's annual trips to Ocean City. Later she enjoyed bus trips with Mt. Airy Senior groups, trips to Ireland and Hawaii and cruises to the Caribbean and Alaska. Along with her husband Stanley operated Stan's Mobil in Ridgeville from 1969 until the early 80's and later she worked for Aspen Publishing in Frederick. Charlotte loved the color pink, collecting angel figurines and anything with butterflies.

Surviving are children: Lucinda L. "Cindy" Baker and husband Terry of Mt. Airy and James Stanley Lare and wife Nancy of West Frankfort, IL. She also raised two grandsons: Michael Lare, Jr and Joshua "Sonny" Lare. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren: Valerie Shekore and husband Brian, Jeff Baker and wife Amber, Nicole Mendoza and husband Vince, Skip Lare and wife Kristie, Ashley Lare and significant other Jeremy, Mike Lare and wife Jessica and Sonny Lare; eleven great grandchildren: Kelsey, Jackson, Cooper, Piper, Kyleigh, Cameron, Harper, Haden, Joclyn, Rayford and Vivian. She was preceded in death by a son, Michael Lare, Sr., two brothers: Edgar Fowble, Jr. and Charles Fowble; two sisters: Helen Burrows and Alice Warner.

The family wishes to thank Michael Lare, Jr. and wife Jessica for bringing her into their home and giving her loving care for the final weeks of her life as well as Carroll Hospice.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 on Thursday, June 1, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 E. Ridgeville Blvd., Mt. Airy.

A Mass of Christian Burial will offered at 11:00 AM on , Friday, June 2, at St. Michael's Catholic Church at Poplar Springs, 1125 St. Michael's Road, Mt. Airy, MD 21771 with Rev. Michael J. Ruane as Celebrant.

Interment will take place in the church cemetery and a light luncheon will be served in the church hall.

Memorial donations may be made to Mt. Airy Volunteer Fire Company 702 N Main St, Mount Airy, MD 21771 or to the above named church.
