Mrs. Charlotte S. Glick of Frederick passed away peacefully on April 4, 2012 surrounded by her family at her home.  Born Charlotte Hirschhorn on June 26, 1916, in Passaic, NJ to parents Jacob and Pauline Hirschhorn, she  was preceded in death by her husband Charles.

Surviving are four children Frederick Glick and wife Marjorie of Franklinville, NJ and their children Evan and Aleia, Michael Glick and wife Rebecca of Wilmington, NC, Cynthia and husband Herve Kopciak and their children Zachary, Jarad, and Sam of Ashburn, VA and David of Frederick.

Charlotte graduated with a degree in journalism from NYU and worked as an assistant to the Health Office of New York City.  Her numerous volunteer work included Past President Arc for Frederick County, Past President of Jeanne Bussard Work Shop, (twice), Past President of Monocacy Village Homemakers Association just to name a few.

She was a member of the Jaycee Wives, Mental Health Association Board Member, Mental Health Advisory Board, Homemakers County Council and a member of Maryland Arc.

Charlotte was also a member of Beth Sholom Congregation Board of Directors, Vice President of the National Council of Jewish Women, past member of Maryland Developmental Disabilities Council, Governors Committee on Employment of the Handicapped, Beth Sholom Social Club, Beth Sholom Sisterhood, Hadassa, and a member of the Frederick Decade of the Disabled.

Charlotte served on the Board of Education 5 Year Plan Committee in 1979 and 1984.  She also served as the publicity chairman for most of the organizations with which she was involved.  She wrote the newsletter "The Link" for the Arc for 16 years, which she typed in her basement with a manual typewriter.  She also spoke at the White House in 1984 on behalf of the Decade of the Disabled.

Among her many awards she was honored with Hannah G. Solomon Award 1970, Citation Boy Scout Trop1054 in 1970, Outstanding Woman Award, B & P Women in 1973, lke Stevens Award in 1977, Distinguished Service Award MHA 1982, Volunteer of the Year award 1983, 3rd Annual Human Relations Council Awareness Award 1984, Maryland Governors Citation 1986, Arc Award for three decades of Service 1990, Good as Gold Award Beth Sholom Congregation 1992, Community Foundation Volunteer Award with Charles 2004.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Arc of Frederick 620 Research Drive, Frederick, MD 21703, the Scott Key Center, 1050 Rocky Springs Road, Frederick, MD 21702, Beth Sholom Congregation 1011 North Market St., Frederick, MD 21701, or Montevue Home Auxiliary, 12 East Church Street, Frederick, MD 21701.  Funeral Services were held at Beth Sholom Community Center on Thursday, April 5, 2012 at 3 PM.
