Charlotte Dixon

August 26, 1924 — December 8, 2011

Charlotte E. (Green) Dixon, 87, formerly of Boonsboro, Maryland, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, December 8, 2011 at the Kline Hospice House in Mt. Airy, Maryland.

Born on August 26, 1924, in Keedysville, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Luther and Mabel (Leatherman) Green.  Charlotte was preceded in death by her husband, Hyatt C. Dixon, Sr. in 1977.

She was a member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Rohrersville, Maryland and was also a  member of the Clopper-Michael American Legion Post 10 ladies auxiliary in Boonsboro, Maryland.

Charlotte enjoyed playing the card game (500), crocheting, and running bingo at Reeders Memorial Home in Boonsboro.  She also loved to play bingo at the legion in Boonsboro.

She is survived by a son, Hyatt C. Dixon, Jr. and his wife, Ronna of Frederick, Maryland; two daughters, Shirley L. and her husband, Larry Spice of Millersville, Maryland and Helen E. Hendrick and her family; and a sister, Mary Gomez of Gaithersburg, Maryland.  Charlotte is also survived by three grandchildren, Lori and her husband Edward Ross of Arnold, Maryland, Christopher Dixon, and Amy Dixon, both of Frederick, Maryland; three great-grandchildren, Megan, Hayley and Carly Ross, all of Arnold, Maryland; and numerous nieces and nephews. She will also be remembered by her good friends, Barbara Baker and Skeeter and John Bussard.

In addition to her parents and husband, Charlotte was preceded in death by three brothers, Jacob, Harry, and Roy Green; and one sister, Ethel Rowe.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro, Maryland.  The Rev. Blaine E. Feightner will officiate.  Charlotte will be laid to rest next to her husband in a private service at Arlington National Cemetery.

Family will receive friends one hour prior to the memorial service at the funeral home.
