Charles Wilson Putman

Charles Wilson Putman, of Thurmont, passed into eternal peace on November 28, 2009.

He was born November 18, 1912, the son of the late Raymond C. And Bertha Zimmerman Putman. Mr. Putman was the loving husband of Anna Ruth Firor Putman.

Mr. Putman was the beloved father of Marilee Putman McKissick and husband Edward, Thurmont and Barbara Ellen Poole and husband Leroy, New Market. He was the adored grandfather of Kenneth Favorite and wife Denise, Susan Favorite and Douglas Favorite, all of Thurmont, Kimberly Maynard and husband John, Frederick, Pete Rinehart and wife Stacey, Boonsboro, Eric Poole, Frederick and Alan Poole and wife Len, Gaithersburg. Mr. Putman was further blessed with 5 great-grandchildren: Mark Knott, Jr., Margaret Knott, John Maynard, Jr., Cole Rinehart and Cody Rinehart. He is also survived by one brother, R. Randolph Putman, Martinsburg, WV.

Charles Putman was pre-deceased by his first wife Margaret Summers Putman, his brother Austin Z. Putman, Sr., and his sister, Kathleen P. Krantz.

Previously of Frederick and a member of the Frederick High School graduating Class of 1930.

Mr. Putman continued a long family tradition and spent many years farming in Frederick County, retiring in the 1970s. He then painted for the Ausherman Construction Company. Charles Putman was a member of the Sgt. Lawrence Everhart Chapter of the Sons of American Revolution.

He was a humble man, who never had a bad word to say about anyone and a little grin and twinkling blue eyes for everyone. He was special and he will be greatly missed.

Mr. Putman is also remembered by two special caregivers: Mary Rice and Ellen Diets, whose special care was a god-send over the last 18 months.

Visitation: The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7 - 9 p.m. On Tuesday, December 1st at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 East Main Street, Thurmont.

Services: Funeral services will be held at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, 103 North Church Street, Thurmont, MD on Wednesday, December 2nd at 10:00 a.m.. Private interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.

The family requests memorial remembrances be sent to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church Parish Office, 16150 Saint Anthony Road, Emmitsburg, MD 21727
