Charles Wayne Curry

Mr. Charles Wayne Curry, of Hagerstown, formerly of Frederick, MD, passed away at his home with his family by his side on Monday, April 28, 2008.

Born on November 10, 1944 he was the son of the late Raymond Chester Warren and Mary Ellen Smith. He was raised by his stepfather Kaveda Charles of New York. After school he proudly joined the U.S. Army and was assigned to the 101st Airborne Division and served in the Viet Nam War. He was a member of the American Legion Post #202 in Williamsport, MD and a life member of the AMVETS Post #2 in Frederick, MD.

Charles was a yard manager for Schuster Concrete for over 8 years. He was an avid NASCAR fan and memorabilia collector. He looked forward to every race day, and shared his passion with everyone. He also enjoyed weekend rides in the county with his wife, and the time spent with his family.

He is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 40 years, Ella M. Curry, and their two children Sandra R. Wilson and husband Dirk of Mt. Airy, MD, and Melissa A. Simmons and husband Allan of Frederick, MD; his three grandchildren, Alexander F. Simmons, Bailey M. Wilson, and MacKenzie D. Wilson; a sister, Shirley Brierley and husband George of Gulf Port, FL; many nieces and nephews, aunts, and uncles also survive him. Charles was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia L. Crawford. He will be remembered by many extended family members and dear friends for his kind heart and generous spirit.

Visitation: The family will receive friends on Thursday from 2-4 and 7 -9 PM at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD

Services: Services will be held at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD at 1:30 PM on Friday, May 2, 2008 with Rev. Dorothy Lundgren officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick, with military honors.
