Mr. Charles Lare Chick Routzahn, 84, of Walkersville, died on Friday, March 27, 2009, at Glade Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Walkersville. He was the husband of the late Carrie Irene Staley Routzahn who died in 1989 after 37 years of marriage.
Born on August 19, 1924, in Walkersville he was the son of the late Charles Sherman and Anna Lare Routzahn. He retired form Londontown Manufacturing Company in Halfway, MD after 24 years service. He also worked for Robert Terry Garment Company in Walkersville. Mr. Routzahn served in the U.S. Army during WWII with the 489th Battalion Artillery from Pennsylvania, seeing action in Belgium, France and Germany; and was a member of the Glen W. Eyler American Legion Post 282 in Woodsboro. Chick was always accompanied by his old buddy Duke, his black lab and enjoyed to walk around Walkersville as well as gardening and yard work.
Surviving are 2 daughters: ZoEllen Wilson and husband Paul of Kearneysville, WV and Sheila Grall and husband William of Taneytown; 4 grandchildren: Richard Smith of Boonesboro, Kelly Wood and husband George of Knoxville, Kevin Rutherford of Walkersville and Kara Self and husband Allen of Romney, WV; 5 great grandchildren: Carrie Krietz, Karley and Kristen Rutherford, Amanda Wood and Zoey Self; Chick will also be remembered by Jennifer Hale and her children: Adam, Lauren and Emily.
He was predeceased by a step-brother, Jacob Edward Routzahn.

Services:
The family will receive friends from 12-1 PM on Tuesday, March 31, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 40 Fulton Avenue, Walkersville where services will begin at 1:00 PM with his son-in-law, Rev. Pete Wilson officiating.
Interment will be in Glade Cemetery, Walkersville
