Mr. Charles K. Norwood II, 83, of Mt. Airy died on August 27, 2008 at home with his loving family by his side. He is survived by his wife of 49 years Shirley Ann Norwood.
Born on August 5, 1925 in Frederick he was the son of the late Charles Kemp and Hattie Rimbey Norwood.
He was a member of Mt. Airy Full Gospel Church and also attended Prospect Methodist Church for many years. He was active in The Full Gospel Mens Fellowship for many years. He also served as a volunteer taking refreshments once a month to Springfield State Hospital.
He served in the U. S. Navy for three years and was part of The Seabees Unit. He served in the U. S. Army for four years. He was a member of the Mt. Airy American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars in Mt. Airy and was also active in the Mt. Airy Fire Company for many years.
He retired from the Mt. Airy Post Office in 1986.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Charles 'Butch Norwood of Mt. Airy and Joseph Tony Norwood and his wife Patricia of Keymar. Six Grandchildren, Stacy Perry and her husband Mike of Frederick, CK Norwood, Jacob Norwood and Seth Norwood of Mt. Airy and Katie and Kellie Norwood of Keymar. He had a foster daughter Patti and her husband Lou Lassiter and children, Jacob, Kaci, Matthew, Caleb and Autumn Joy of Mosley, Virginia. One sister Peggy Strine and husband Robert of Frederick and sister in laws, Dorothy Norwood of Mt. Airy and Becky Norwood of Woodfield. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son William J. Norwood and brothers Donald and Howard Norwood.
The family would like to express there thankfulness for care given by Hospice of Frederick County, the DSS Senior Care of Frederick and Doctors Eng and Toro for there care in the treatment for Parkinson.
Visitation: Friends may call on Saturday August 30 from 3-6pm at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 East Ridgeville Blvd, Mt. Airy, Maryland.
Services:
Services will be held on Sunday August 31, 2008 at 1:30pm at the Mt. Airy Full Gospel Church, 13949 Penn Shop Road, Mt. Airy, MD 21771.
Pastor Thomas Gue will officiate. Interment will follow in Prospect Cemetery, Mt. Airy.
In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Mt. Airy Full Gospel Church, Hospice of Frederick County for the Parkinson Foundation.
