Charles E. Smith

November 21, 1933 — February 23, 2013

Mr. Charles Edward Smith 79 of Mt. Airy died on Saturday February 23, 2013 at Frederick Memorial Hospital after an extended illness.  He was the husband of the late Patsy Smith.

Born on November 21, 1933 in Howard County he was the son of the late Wilbur D and Grace Selby Smith.

Mr. Smith attended Lisbon School, Lisbon, Maryland
Mr. Smith was a farmer all his life with his father and
was an avid toy collector of John Deere toys and replica
of many items, plus large signs of advertisements. He
traveled to many auctions and always came home with
everything he wanted. He collected over 100 John
Deere children's pedal tractors and all sizes of toy
tractors and toy equipment.
Mr. Smith owned his own butchering business and
processing many deer for customers. He sponsored the
Sykesville Little League in 1986 and 1987.
Mr. Smith received a 5 Year Recognition of Dedication
Service from Wally's Iron Works-Inc. 2006 Also
Certificate of Service in Appreciation of 10 years of
faithful service to the University of Maryland, July 1988.
Surviving are 2 brothers, Crawford Smith (Rosemary), of
Greeneville, Tenn., Robert (Shirley) Smith of Mt. Airy,
Md. and sister Margaret (Clifford) of Owosso, Mich.
Sister-in-law, Joan Smith of Sykesville, MD .and nieces, nephews and devoted friend, Floyd Driver.
In addition to his wife and parents he is preceded in death by his sister, Mary Belle Holt and his brother Selby Smith.

Visitation will be held on Thursday February 28, 2013 from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the Stauffer Funeral Homes P. A, 8 East Ridgeville Blvd, Mt.Airy where Funeral Services will be held at 11:00am on Friday March 1, 2013. Reverend Wallace Lusk will officiate. Interment will follow in Lakeview Memorial Park, Sykesville.
