Mr. Charles Charlie N. Mossburg, Jr., 67, of Frederick, died on Tuesday, April 3, 2007 at his home.
He is survived by his wife Patsy Mae {Smith} Mossburg, they were to celebrate their 49th wedding anniversary in May.
Born on February 15, 1940 in Frederick County, he was the son of the late Helen L. {Roberts} and Charles N. Mossburg, Sr.
Mr. Mossburg spent most of his career as a tree trimmer, retiring as foreman from the Frederick County Goverment after 25 years of service.
Previously he was employed for 10 years with Asplundh Company . Charlie was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and especially crabbing. He shared his butchering skills with the Carroll Manor Volunteer Fire Co.
Surviving beside his wife are 2 sons; William Nevin Mossburg, Sr. and wife Lillie B. of Ijamsville, Douglas Wayne Mossburg, Frederick , 7 grandchildren; Lillie L. Umberger, Gary A. Shankle, Jr., Willie, Mary S., Albina J., William N. Jr., & Steven D. Mossburg. 4 great-grandchildren and 1 sister Barbara Wetzel.
He was preceded in death by a sister Betty Heavner. Charlie will also be missed by his dog Lacy.
Visitation: Friends may call at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick on Friday, April 6th, from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. where the family will receive friends on Friday from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Services: Services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Franklin D. Bishop officiating. Interment in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Pallbearers will be sons; William Nevin Mossburg, Sr. and Douglas Wayne Mossburg, and Gary Shankle, Jr., Willie Mossburg, Mike Guard and Danny Umberger.
