Charles Bud L. Travis, 80 of Frederick, MD passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2009 at the Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of the late Etta Travis. They were married for 59 years.
Born October 23, 1928 in Grafton, WV he was the son of the late Sherman and Bernice Travis.
He attended West Virginia Business College in Clarksburg, WV and he attended Eastern College of Law and Commerce in Baltimore.
He was in the United States Marine Corps. He served Post World War II in the First Battalion, First Marine Division in China Theater of Operation from 1946-1948. He was awarded the World War II Victory Medal, China Service Medal and China War Memorial Medal.
He was employed and retired from the US Army Medical Bioengineering Research Laboratory, Fort Detrick on August 31, 1993. Mr. Travis was a member if the First Marine Division, Association, past President of the Frederick Breakfast Optimist Club, active for several years as President and Manager of Minor League Baseball Teams in the Frederick area and a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Frederick.
He was survived by a brother, Donald Travis and wife Carolyn of Frederick and numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his two sons, Michael Francis Travis and Mark David Travis.
Visitation: The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick on Wednesday, August 26 from 7:00-9:00 PM.
Services:
Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, August 27 at 10:00AM with Pastor Ron Reaves officiating.
Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.
Memorial contributions may be made to Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church. 1415 W. 7th Street, Frederick, MD 21702.
